The historic Village of Milan is the birthplace of Thomas A. Edison and recognized by the National Trust as a Distinctive Destination. Visitors to the Milan Museum will learn a history rich in progress and creativity. Milestones in both history and invention are displayed in the history galleries. The new glass galleries explore European and American glass from the earliest piece in the collection of Roman glass through the works of contemporary, local artists. The Milan Museum offers a day exploring historic buildings, filled with engaging exhibits and hands-on activities. Special events and programs for the whole family all year!
 
 

Galpin Galleries

The new Galpin Glass Galleries explore European and American glass from the earliest piece in the collection of Roman glass through works of contemporary and local artists.  The Folk and Decorative Galleries showcase examples of early American Folk and Decorative Arts.


Sayles Galleries

The Sayles Galleries explore the unique history of the Milan area from the earliest beginnings, through the creation, expansion, and decline of the Milan Canal. The Edison Exhibit displays some of the inventions of Thomas Edison.


The Coulton Doll Gallery

The outstanding Mildred Smith Coulton Doll Gallery features over 350 charming examples of china, bisque, wax, papier-mache and composition dolls.

The Sisty Blacksmith Shop and Hoover Innovation Gallery

Experience the atmosphere of a real blacksmith shop, where a horse awaits his shoes and the smithy tools of the trade are on view.


 The Newton Arts Gallery

Opened in 1971, the Edna Roe Newton Memorial Building houses the collection of one prominent Milan family.  Acquired from travels around the world, a magnificent collection of European decorative arts are on view.  Examine the delicate art of Japanese Netsuke and witness the exact art of tapestry.
