The game of chess has captured the imagination of generations of players. This game of concentration and strategy probably began as a six century A.D. game in India called chaturanga, a four person game that used thirty-two pieces to reenact ancient battle formations of opposing armies.
By the twelfth century, it had spread into Europe and taken on a more modern version with a bishop and queen. Today, chess is a two person game with a goal of capturing the opponent’s king.
The Milan Historical Museum offers a GIANT CHESS BOARD, free to the public for beginners and experts alike. Come and play the game that improves critical thinking and problem-solving skills, lengthens attention spans and teaches the rewards of following rules.
